Seattle Boat Show Update

An update from Torsten, who’s currently in Seattle for the Seattle Boat Show:

Hello from Seattle!

We had a great first day and an excellent start to the 2020 Seattle Boat Show.

We were able to welcome an amazing number of good customers on board. In many ways, this show feels a little bit like the first years that we exhibited in Southampton.

We’ve had three customers on board who have all flown for over four hours to visit us! Many others have come to shake hands with “the man from the videos”.

Most of the visitors have been amazed and full of admiration. For many, our concept has been a huge surprise. It’s been reassuring to hear phrases like “now we have found our yacht” and “you just saved us from buying …something else”.

To my great surprise, we had Amanda Swan Neal (Rigger of the famous women’s Racing Crew ”Maiden“ ) and John Neal – both US celebrities in cruising – on board today. Without much said from us, they were obviously impressed by our Sirius 40 DS. So much so, that I was invited to be a speaker at their seminar that same afternoon called “Boat selection for Offshore Cruising”.

Among receiving other compliments (which made me kind of red in the face), after they had explained all about good cockpit design for safe ocean passages, explaining the importance of protected cockpits, sprayhoods, hardtops and doggers etc. I was asked to explain to the audience, as they put it, “the furthest evolution of safety and onboard comfort and the bluewater-cruising must have: a proper Deck Saloon concept.”

Finally, we were invited to dinner by a very nice Chicago Doctor, who had, by the end of the evening, offered us his to-be-new Sirius 40 DS in 2-3 years (from now) for the United States Sail Show in Annapolis.

What a first day! And we still have eight more days to go at the Seattle Boat Show!

Best regards
